St. Charles' Historic Main Street Welcomes New Townhome Development

Main Street in St. Charles is set for a new chapter as plans for Katy Trail Place, a development of 14 townhomes, gain unanimous approval from the City Council.

Located on South Main Street’s historic stretch, the project will add three- and four-bedroom homes designed to blend seamlessly with the district’s celebrated 19th-century charm.

Each home will include private garages, and construction starts this fall, wrapping up in about a year.

Developer Nick Liuzza of NJL Custom Homes promises the architecture will honor Main Street’s legacy, while leaders like Councilman Mark Hollander praise its thoughtful design.

The riverfront district, already known for its festivals and over 125 businesses, is experiencing a surge of residential and retail investment, including the upcoming Fox Haven Square and other townhome projects.

Mayor Lora Vitek anticipates these additions will bring fresh energy—and visitors—to downtown while preserving St. Charles’ historic heart.
